On February 28th two satellites (a defunct russian spy satellite and an active NASA satellite) passed each other within 10 meters. Initial estimates were 20 meters, but 10 meters is even scarier. If two satellites hit each other the debris could initiate a cascade, effectively clearing entire satellite orbits.
