This sounds like broken record. MOT time and fail.
Fellow on MOT test center broke rear brakeline, it had rusted through. Great that it happened there and not on the road at panic braking. Problems of hybrids, we both (me and my wife) use B gear for braking, it's there to increase battery charging and works well as re-gen braking by adding more engine braking. Just flick it to B and add light pressure to brake pedal use re-gen and at the end brake lightly to stop the car. Changed both lines, no point to just do one as other was showing similar signs of rust.
Have to say that installing rear brakelines takes the new, most hated job, over installing the new turbo to Miata. It's not complicated or technically hard, just complete PIA to fiddle with the lines. And as it happens, the harder to get to line, behind the engine off course leaked. Something nice, Toyota ABS makes brake bleeding really easy, just press pedal and pump takes care of pumping.
Other than that, usual oil changes have been taken care, theres +320tkm on the odo. Got new summer tyres as old ones were bald, Sailun was readily available so went with it. Winters I found from local graigslist for really good price, almost new studded Michelin X-Ice North 4 with ok alloy wheels, best wintertyres I've ever driven, feels so much safer to drive.
Mother in law reversed the drivers rear corner into lamp post that never had been there before and wife drove drivers front corner to frozen snow bank. Now both corners are broken, not sure will I have the motivation to fix/change those. Bought it as I knew these things would happen and didn't want anything too dear.
And hobby cars... After having had e36 318ti and 328ci e46 for short while I could not bother to drive anything that uses twice as much as Prius.
Said no one ever. Happy with boosted Miata and things, no sir their not for saving fuel.
But let's end like we started, me repeating myself, I still love Prius.
